|TYLER TOFFOLI, Kings|
|HE HIT THE CROSSBAR!|
Driving the net is a quality all NHL coaches and GMs expect to see from their forwards. Better than that, they want to see their big bodies crash the net. They want to see this up to a point.
Tyler Toffoli of the Kings may have crossed the line on his goal against Colorado. Actually, he definitely crossed the line — the goal line.
Speeding through the slot, Toffoli received a pass from Drew Doughty and quickly dispatched a wrist shot past Avalanche goaltender Calvin Pickard. But Toffoli took no pains to plot the completion of his headlong rush to the goal. Instead, he let the goal frame take care of that.
Fortunately for Toffoli he shoots the puck faster than he skates. And although no doubt he swore to his teammates following the game that it was actually the force of the puck that lifted the cage off its moorings, the visual evidence suggests otherwise.
In any event, his dismount from the high bar suggests that he made the right choice as a lad when choosing hockey over the lucrative field of professional gymnastics.
